Visual Arts Contest

"Be a Friend

When it Counts"

 

 

FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

 

The Knights of Pythias Poster Contest entitled "BE A FRIEND WHEN IT COUNTS" is open to any student enrolled as a Freshman (Grade 9), Sophomore (Grade 10), Junior (Grade 11), or Senior (Grade 12) in any Junior or senior High or Parochial School in the United States and Canada

 

RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Poster may be on any color cardboard, 14 inches by 22 inches uniformly. DO NOT DEVIATE.

2. Any two dimensional medium may be used. (computer graphics, photography, stenciling, drawing, painting etc.)

3. All the art must be ORIGINAL . No copyrighted material may be used in the development of or in the actual entry.

4. On front of the poster near the bottom, in letters not over 1/4 inch high must appear the following: "SPONSORED BY THE FRATERNAL ORDER KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS".

5. Each contestant must print name, grade, school, and home address on the back of the poster.

6. State winners will be determined by local Knights of Pythias Lodges. These winners must be determined not later than April 30th. Check with a local Pythian Lodge for their judging deadlines.

7. The winning poster from each participating local lodge will be submitted to the State or Provincial Knights of Pythias organization to determine a winner by May 15th. This state or province winner will be submitted to the Supreme Secretary, 59 Coddington St. Quincy, MA 02169 no later than June 15th.

8. All posters will become the property of the Knights of Pythias and will be returned after the judging.

ALL RULES AND REGULATIONS MUST BE FOLLOWED TO QUALIFY

 

JUDGING

The winners of all contests will be determined by qualified judges who are required to base their decisions upon the following:

a) message;

b) originality;

c) effective display of message in specified dimensions;

d) neatness;

e) adherence to stated rules and regulations.

 

PRIZES

LOCAL AND AREA CONTESTS

Local or Subordinate lodges will award prizes at their own expense.

 

GRAND LODGE CONTESTS

The Supreme Lodge will furnish appropriate ribbons for the First, Second and Third Prize winners of each Grand

Lodge Contest. Each Grand Lodge will supplement these by offering other prizes at their own expense.

 

SUPREME LODGE PRIZES

First Prize - $1,000 Cash

Second Prize - $500 Cash

Third Prize - $250 Cash

4th through 8th Prize - $100 Cash

Additional prizes may be available at state and local level judging.
