2005 POSTER CONTEST
WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Road
rage - is it Worth Your Life” was the First Prize winner of the
2005 Knights of Pythias Poster Contest. NICOLE GERRITY
of Toledo, Ohio received a $1,000
cash prize from the Supreme Lodge Knights of Pythias in its annual poster
contest entitled "Safe Driving."
Second
place honors which included a $500
cash prize went to SARAH HILL of Mt. Juliet, TN, a Grade 12 student at
Mt. Juliet High School, for her poster, “Put
a Seatbelt on Road Rage”. NIKOLA ODIC,
a Grade 11 student from from Earl Haig Secondary School ,
Toronto, ON won a $250 third place prize for the poster “You Before Me”.
The students
who placed fourth through eighth received Honorable Mention honors and
a $100 cash award are:

The final judging for the 2005 Poster Contest took place,
June 29th, at the Quincy Art Association Galleries, Quincy, Massachusetts.
Judging the contest were Marion Fitzsimmons and Marilyn Reisberg of the
Quincy Art Association. The Contest Chairman was Supreme Secretary Alfred
Saltzman.
The
fraternal Order Knights of Pythias is 141 years old and is the first non-sectarian,
fraternal Order to receive a charter by a special act of the United States
Congress when Abraham Lincoln was President. It
is based on the legendary friendship of Damon and Pythias during the ancient
days of Syracuse and philospher Pythagoras. Pythians practice Friendship,
Charity and Benevolence.
